Ceremonies and Medicine

Ceremonies and Medicine

At Venus-Hives retreats, we walk the path of deep respect for life, nature, and consciousness. Our work with ancestral and natural medicines is always conducted in accordance with the highest standards of integrity, legality, and care. Every ceremony and practice we offer honors the timeless traditions of the Earth while fully aligning with the ethical and legal frameworks of the land where we gather.

Each medicine we share is natural, gentle, and completely legal—chosen for its ability to open awareness, restore balance, and deepen connection to self and the living world. The purpose of our work is not escape or alteration, but remembrance: to help the body and spirit realign with their original harmony. Every element of our practice is guided by the understanding that true healing arises through presence, intention, and love.

We place great emphasis on set and setting—the inner and outer environments that support your journey. “Set” refers to your mindset, intentions, and emotional state as you enter the experience. “Setting” refers to the physical and energetic space that holds you: the beauty of nature, the music, the circle of trusted facilitators, and the atmosphere of safety that allows you to open fully. When set and setting are in balance, the medicine becomes a mirror of the soul, reflecting the wisdom that already lives within you.

Our facilitators have devoted years to learning the subtle art of holding sacred space. Each carries a commitment to serve from humility, clarity, and heart coherence. We approach every ceremony as a living prayer—a meeting point between Earth and Spirit, where transformation can unfold naturally. This is why we keep our groups small and intimate, so that each participant receives personal attention, guidance, and support before, during, and after the experience.

Before entering any ceremony, you are always encouraged to ask questions, seek understanding, and make your own choices. There is never any pressure or expectation to take part in any medicine work. Participation is always voluntary and informed, honoring your sovereignty and the wisdom of your own timing. Integration—the process of bringing insights into everyday life—is equally valued. We offer gentle practices, sharing circles, and grounding rituals to help you embody what you receive in the most natural way.

The medicines used at Inlakech are celebrated for their capacity to awaken clarity, peace, and emotional balance. They are not about transcendence but about coming home—to your body, to your breath, and to the sacred pulse of life itself. Every session is designed as a bridge between ancient knowing and modern understanding, carried out with transparency, purity, and the deep intention of healing.

We invite you to enter this work as a sacred conversation with yourself and with the natural world—one that begins with respect and unfolds with trust. All that is offered here is meant to nourish your wholeness and remind you of the simple truth that you are the medicine.

  • Sananga

Amazonian natives believe that Sananga eye drops have the capacity to increase spiritual insight and sharpen night vision.

Today, in the west many users find Sananga to have a potential to treat a spectrum of illnesses including glaucoma, cataracts, farsightedness, nearsightedness and blindness, increase visual perception and enhances colors.

In the mental and spiritual aspects, it is used for clearing long-standing inner anger, addiction, depression, and anxiety. According to tradition This powerful eye medicine is used either in conjunction with ayahuasca or as a stand-alone treatment.

  • Rappeh'

Traditionally, Rappeh´ has been used by indigenous tribes in the Amazon in almost every aspect of their daily lives. From formal rituals to social sharing of the snuff, to personal healing.

A Rappeh ceremony may be held alone or in conjunction with an Ayahuasca or Kambo ceremony, to enhance and direct the experience.

The ceremony involves two breaths, each of which shoots tobacco-based snuff deep into the two nasal cavities, each of these breaths is followed by an immediate sharp blow to the sinuses and head that clears the nasal cavity, and ultimately leaves the person feeling calmer, grounded, and revitalized. Practitioners who use this sacred plant medicine report that Rappeh is a powerful way to cleanse yourself of negative energy, ease pain, and stimulate detoxification.

  • Touch - The Mayan Abdominal Massage

The Mayans believe that your internal organs are the foundation of health and so the abdomen is central to healing. They believe this is where many human emotions are stored, and therefore represents a place of power. When the abdomen can’t properly support and align the body, the paths of energy, nutrients, and communication become blocked, and the body is no longer able to function properly.

Maya abdominal therapy is a massage technique that focuses on the abdominal muscles, connective tissues, and internal organs. This technique helps to guide organs back into the proper places. When the body and internal organs are in complete alignment, congestion and blockages are reduced so that energy, communication, and nutrients can flow freely, and waste can be properly removed.

Kambo

“Frog Medicine”

Kambo is a healing ritual named after the poisonous secretions of the giant monkey frog. This creamy secretion is applied to small burn - wounds made on the skin by the healer and short after, the intensive process begins.

A common Physical symptom is vomiting which is considered normal as a part of the cleansing experience. South American natives have used Kambo for centuries to heal and cleanse the body by strengthening its natural defenses, cleanses the body and mind and revitalize health. This medicine is considered one of the strongest natural antibiotics on earth.

Kambo is believed to help with a range of conditions, including: Infections, depression and anxiety, diabetes, vascular conditions, cancer, addiction, chronic pain, Alzheimer’s disease, rheumatism, and infertility.

Temazcal

“House of Steam”

Temazcal is an ancestral shamanic ritual practiced by ancient civilizations throughout Central and North America. It is a ceremony of well-being and purification of the soul, spirit, and body. A therapeutic healing to relieve stress, aches and injuries, cure skin or respiratory disease and as a support during childbirth.

It takes place inside a dome shaped space where hot volcanic stones are placed in the center then infused with water and herbs, generating steam that relaxes the muscles and opens the pores of the skin for an intensive body cleanse, releasing tension and toxins. In addition to the physical benefits, the mind also relaxes, free from the thought patterns that usually occupy it, allowing for a kind of mental purification too.

Temazcal is also a form of spiritual healing, a process of personal introspection that helps to deal with anxiety, fear, worry and stress. This is, in part, the purpose of Temazcal, to live again, to be reborn.

The total darkness during the ceremony allows us to increase our sensitivity via our breathing and to cut all links with the outside world and to focus essentially on our self, our feelings, our emotions without being influenced by anyone.

Prayers are pronounced by the Shaman accompanied by the sound of drums and incantations. Each participant is invited to participate in the chants to feel all the vibrations, to awaken their body and their organs. They are also invited to formulate an intention, a wish if they feel the need. This mindfulness ceremony allows some to reach deep meditation and serenity.

  • Cacao

A cacao ceremony is a beautiful opportunity to connect with yourself on a deeper level and with those sharing the ceremony journey alongside you.

The cacao offers creativity, awakening and inspiration. It is also well known for its heart opening properties and its mood-boosting effects.

Many cultures still utilize cacao ceremonially and more recently, this ancient knowledge and the practices have been carried to the western world especially in holistic, spiritual and wellness communities.
